Container Garden Contest

You don't need a yard to grow lettuce! With a pot, potting soil, seeds, water and sun, you can have fresh delicious vegetables just out your door. You will want to find a spot which gets at least 6 hours of sunlight, make sure your container has holes for drainage, and choose the appropriate size container for your plant's roots. Read these Container Vegetable Growing Tips

Get imaginative with your containers and recycle! Drawers from an old dresser...a recycled olive oil tin...plastic buckets...just avoid things like tires which could leach toxic chemicals into your soil.
We are having a Container Garden Contest. Prizes will be given for
  • The most creative use of a recycled container
  • The most beautiful container garden
  • The most imaginative name
Send us a photo of your container by August 1. Please include your name, what you are growing, and if your container has a name. We will post photos as they come in, and pick winners by August 7. Note: all entries must be vegetables.
