In 2009, Community Harvest of Southwest Seattle
- harvested over 6,700 pounds of local residential fruit for distibution at the White Center and West Seattle food banks.
- began the Edible Garden at the White Center Food Bank,
- planted over 50 tomato, pepper and tomatillo plants, resulting in over 200 pounds of vegetables for the food banks,
- organized the 2nd Annual Edible Garden Tour of West Seattle,
- and organized the 1st Annual Edible Garden Fair at South Seattle Community College.
In 2010, we plan to
- harvest more trees - distribute more fruit,
- partner with Tilth to offer garden classes in West Seattle,
- join Sustainable West Seattle in establishing a tool library
- create a thriving community vegetable garden at the White Center Cultural Community Center
- hold vegetable start sales in the spring and fall,
- and continue to support an increasing interest in our communities in growing vegetables - community supported self-reliance
