Come learn how to preserve these luscious summer treasures for later use. Savory spreads, delectable jams and fruit butters will complement your meals throughout the year, and make welcome homemade gifts. Roxanne Vierra demonstrates how to can plums and make plum chutney, plum orange jam, and canned whole plums. She also offers plenty of tips, canning methods and safety techniques. Senior Center Canning Class Wednesday, August 27 6:30-8:30 PM Senior Center Plum Crazy - Get some ideas of what to do with those plentiful local fresh plums. Using fruit from West Seattle trees, we will learn how to make Plum Butter, Dried Plums, and a delicious Plum Coffee Cake. Share your own stories and family traditions for preserving fruit.
